Emotional Support for Babies, Toddlers, Teens

We live in a stressful society. I’m based in Singapore, and it is one of the world’s most densely populated cities! second most densely populated city in the world, with 5.79 million (density at 8,274 P/Km² in 2018) people crammed onto the island.

Those working in this concrete jungle are highly stressed. Our public trains break down so often that it has been accepted as the norm. Children are piled with classes and extra-curriculum activities in order to keep up with the academic demands. There are few open spaces in our living and working estate, and so often, we end up feeling trapped and enclosed.

I shared about using the Feelings Kit (see here) and a few mums have asked me, “Can I use it on my baby / toddler / teenager?” Well, the answer is yes!

I’ve talked about the benefits and functions of each oil in the last post. So here, I’ll share how we can use the same set of oils for our young ones!

Get your oils ready

Arrange your oils in the following sequence:

Valor
Harmony
Forgiveness
Release
Present Time
Inner Child

You will use 1-2 drops of each oil.

Layer the oils on

Drop the first oil onto your palm. Apply it onto the spine or the soles of the feet. The soles of the feet is extremely accessible especially when your child has fallen asleep or simply refused to let you apply oil onto his/her spine. Start with valor. Then move on to Harmony. Do the same thing. Drop 1 drop onto your palm, and apply. We call this method LAYERING. It is like making a club sandwich – you put the butter, followed by the tomato, lettuce, ham etc. One on top of the other.

How often

I would suggest to apply for at least 5 consecutive days to allow the oils to assist in the transformation of moods and emotions.

What would I observe

As we are all unique, the experiences will differ from person to person. Some of the reported experiences from other mums are:

  • Improved sleep and naps
  • Less crankiness
  • Healthy and open communication
  • Reduced meltdowns
  • More receptive to ideas and suggestions
  • Open to changes
  • Less hard on self
  • Allow support from others
